"Hi, I was at camp in 1989. I had come from the other side of the world and was 17. Imagine it!! New York, California, Boston, America. And Camp Squanto. Thank you for looking after a lone kiwi a long way from home:) I hope the camp continues to greet every person and give them memories to treasure. Kia-Kaha-Be Strong."

"Unbelievably fun (and beautiful) camp! My son can't wait to visit again this summer! Thank you Squanto and staff for all the memories you are providing my son!!!"

"I can remember in 1958, our troop went to camp for the weekend. It was mid winter, we stayed in a cabin on the Blackfoot site. We arrived there on Friday eve. It had just started to snow. Departing time was Sunday AM. There was so much snow, over two feet, that no auto could drive in for our pickup. The whole troop had to hike all the way out to Rt. 58 in the snow..."

"I just completed Week 1 (July 2-8) 2006 at Camp Squanto. It was great! As a "first-year" I am still working on the rank of "scout". Camp Squanto helped me complete Flight to Eagle (with Tom Cushing. You rock, Tom!!) and recieve the Mammals merit badge. Also, I earned four pie pieces (segmants) in one week: Indian Lore, Archery, Rifelry, and Hall of Fame. Thanks Camp Squanto!"
-Christopher Prall, Troop 41

"Hi, Just a short email to say that Troop 180 had a terrific time at your camp! everything was as good as expected, your staff was excellent, and the food was better than some restaurants that I've been to over the years! Perhaps the only thing that I didn't like was heartbreak hill, (we stayed in Agawam) but after a week of climbing it, I'm in better shape! Thanks again, hope to see you again next year!!!"
-Dave Fusco, Troop 180

I was on the staff in 1993. I am currently a US Army Sniper and a Platoon Segeant for 2/4 Infantry's Recon Platoon. I am also serving my 6th tour in the war on terrorism. Over the years since I began deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq I have thought back to all of the great life skills I learned while camping at Squanto. The outstanding staff were amazing and created so many great memories. What a great place! Thanks for everything. SFC Brian R Bailey

Hi Guys! Nice to hear back from you. Do you both have kids in scouts? George has a little Georgie, who also likes to swim. Big George, is the Haverhill High (MA) boys swim coach, and also still at the beach , he's a Supervisor at Salisbury State Reserevation (MA). He and his wife Suzanne, are both into sports! He still is active in local swim comp.'s at beaches: and is a teacher.

Hey Frank (Gilcreast), Laurie (Nigro), and George (if you're about). As noted by Frank, he and George were my tent mates and good friends. Miss you all. Congrats Frank on your son keeping up the Eagle Scout tradition!

I just happened to be looking at the guest book and noticed my name in one of the headings. Obviously I had to reply. I was on the Waterfront Staff from 1974-77 with a couple of Hanover weeks tossed in there as well. Great memories and of course I do remember Jeff Stobel and George Nigro very well as they were my tent mates and very good friends. Believe it or not I am currently a SDE with the Pine Tree Council in Maine where I cover York County. I live in North Waterboro and am the proud father of an Eagle Scout. Even though we have great camps here in the Pine Tree Council, Camp Squanto will always be #1 to me. Squanto will shine forever. Anyone remember Flee Fly?? Hi Laurie :)

Hope to see all the 2009 staff on Saturday, Dec 26th for our recall meeting. Bring your applications. Those who haven't been to camp since the summer won't believe the changes in the office, trading post and the new museum. Bring some ideas for next season's theme.

Just checking out the sight. While I only worked one summer at Camp Squanto, I helped shingle the rifle range hut as my "training" for that season, and along with one other scout the two of us pretty much roofed the entire thing! I had a lot of fun on and off the range. Squanto is still one of my favorite scout camps!

Thanks Ron , for posting the whereabouts of the Flagpole and deer! It's nice to know the 70's stuff, some is still there! Besides my dad and brother:George SR. and George Nigro (waterfront), I remember the neat log stairs and the Campfires! and the fun times singing! Does anyone remeber George? or Frank Gilcrest, Jeff Strobel or Tophy Woodward? Squanto will always bring back fond memories...Squanto will shine!

WHERE ARE THE DEER ?
June 09, 2009

Posted by RON TUFANKJIAN from CAMP STAFF
The deer moved to a different area of camp due to a shortage of a good food source...They can now be seen grazing in front of Cobb's Cabin/Camp Museum area---behind the former parade field flag poles.... The memorial area flagpole is still standing...

Hi, Are the Deer and The Flagpole(this was dedicated to my dad George A. Nigro) still there? I always enjoyed this camp even though it was boys except for 2 girls on staff (Sam was one)! Campfires and "Dale & the Duds" dances were always great! One of my good friends was also on staff (late 1960's?): Tophy Woodward.
