National Youth Leader Training is a weeklong training course that provides youth leaders with an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills while living by the Scout Oath and Law, in an exciting outdoor environment. Scouts who earn the NYLT shield are prepared to meet the challenges ahead and are better prepared to work with adult leaders.
REQUIREMENTS


Each participant must be: a registered Scout who is 14 years old or older, First Class or above, has 2 years summer camp experience, and will be in a leadership position, or likely to assume a leadership position within the 2008-2009 Scouting year.
OBJECTIVES


  • To give participants the confidence and knowledge to run the troop
        program.


  • To give participants a basic knowledge of the eleven skills of leadership
        and help them relate these skills to their troop responsibilities.


  • To give participants the opportunity to expand on their extended camping,
        cooking, and hiking experiences.


  • To create an atmosphere where Scouts will experience Scouting at its
        BEST.


  • To enhance the relationship between the participant and his Scoutmaster.


  • To have FUN.

    2008 Rates
    $315 per Scout.
    $225 discounted price if a Scout has already paid for a troop camping week.

    Registration DEADLINE is May 15th, 2008. A Scouts' spot is reserved through submission of the Registration Form>> with a non-refundable $50 deposit. The balance of the registration fee is due June 22nd. Make checks payable to "Old Colony Council, BSA."
